The Medical Council of India (MCI) has given its approval to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College to admit a third batch of students, with 150 MBBS seats.
Previously, there was confusion over the MCI approval. It had written to college authorities seeking clarification on various deficiencies found during an inspection prior to the admission of third batch of students. The most important deficiency was shortage of staff.
A team of officials representing the college then met the MCI Chairman. The MCI granted permission without another inspection, officials from the college said.
