- Puducherry Ex-Chief Minister & Kerala Governor M.O.H. Farook died at a private hospital in Chennai on Thursday (26-01-2012) night. His body has been taken to Puducherry and kept at his residence for people to pay their last respects. The funeral is scheduled on Friday (27-01-2011) evening.

- Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) B. Srikanth has been selected for the President's Police Medal for the year 2012 for his meritorious service.

- Assistant Sub Inspector of Police Sarasa has been awarded President's Police Medal for meritorious service.
